Venues to keep warm in on those chilly days
Things are still a bit chilly in Geelong but that’s no excuse not to head out. We’ve run down a number of venues and cafes that will have the fire roaring as you sip your wine, coffee and chat with friends.
Irish Murphy’s
Built in 1856 this venue was previously built as the Argyle hotel up until, 1996 when it became known to the locals as Irish Murphys up to the present date. 14 beers and cider on tap, big range of whiskey and a variety local and national wines.
It is also equipped with a restaurant with contemporary Australian menu with all the pub classics and some famous Irish dishes.

Pakington Cottage
Pakington Cottage is the newly renovated Newtown cafe which boasts a homely fireplace right in the centre of the venue.
Plenty of room to share the warmth as you keep the delicious fresh-inspired menu to yourself.

Little Green Corner
With a focus on sustainable living, it's no wonder Little Green Corner cafe has a fireplace! Located in the somewhat private side room, it offers a cosy corner as you sip some housemade mulled and spiced apple juice!

Lord Nelson is a little bit regal but still with the fun of one of Geelong's largest outdoor beer gardens. Lord Nelson has two historic fireplaces to keep punters warm in the dining room and lounge room.

Café Go is one of Geelong's favourite cafes, the quirky space has a double fire in the centre of the main room. There'll definitely be no freezing at this Geelong cafe!

While it may be one of the favourite late night spots on a Saturday night, Beav's bar also has a toastey fireplace in its kitsch rooms. Though chances are you've been too busy dancing up a storm to notice!

One of Geelong's original restaurant hotels, the Sawyers Arms Tavern has been owned by the Clatworthy family for over 60 years and it wouldn't be an old pub without a fire!
