Our round-up of New Year's parties in Geelong
New Year's Eve is right around the corner, and if you're still recovering from Christmas, and you're reading this article, chances are you haven't made plans. Or maybe if you're just seeing if there's a better option than what you've got already?
Below is a list of what we've rounded up that's happening around town.
Have your Sunday sesh, New Year's Eve party at Murphy's where there'll be drink specials, live entertainment (by the likes of Stevie and Jordan and On the Cusp) and some food to soak it all up.
With Little Creatures' parties you always know the beer will be aplenty and decent, but with this New Year's Eve laneway party there will also be quirky entertainers, bangin' beats and food to go round. Please note this party does not run until midnight, and finishes at 10pm.
Get your last dose of dope eats, sick beats and drink specials for 2017 at Recess Bar + Eats, one of Geelong's newly renovated/opened venues. Entry is free and the fun is pretty much gauranteed.
One of Geelong's most popular venues offers three different exeriences across the two locations. Enjoy the classic experience with Andy Pobjoy on the piano at the original venue, and at the downstairs and upstairs of the new venue enjoy a night hosted by resident drag queen Art Simone and DJ Malibu Stacey.
Bring in your New Year as you embark on an investigation into the existence of spirits at the Geelong Gaol. Hopefully you'll have your answers by 11.30pm when the tour finishes so you can enjoy the turn of the year.
With one of the best views of the waterfront, the Royal Geelong Yacht Club is a prime possie to be in when the fireworks kick off. Running from 7pm until 1am, there'll be live entertainment, champagne and canapés.
Bring in your new year with delicious food, as Centra is hosting a four-course dinner in the dining room. If you're not into filling your stomachs the main bar will have drink specials and DJs playing disco and funk tunes to see you through to midnight.
Another foodie New Year's option, frankie. Is hosting a an eight shared courses dinner with complimentary beverage.
Live entertainment paired with a cocktail party and delicious Asian-fusion canapés? Yes, please. Not to mention a cozy spot on the bay to view all the action.
Take a trip back to the roaring '20s at the Novotel with live entertainment, a five-hour beverage package and canapés.
Two levels of non-stop fun will be in store at Home House - or at least it will feel that way! Upstairs enjoy entertainment from Sunshine, Lucille Croft, Madeleine and Johnny Canik. Downstairs enjoy the likes of DJ Philly, DJ Shook and Crystal Cartier. Early bird VIP entry can be purchased in advance.
Have you been naughty or nice this 2017? Lambys is hosting a Saints and Sinners themed cocktail party to bring in the new year so expect plenty of angels, devils and everything in between.
Get a taste of a New York celebration at one of the best locations for the fireworks. This event is semi-formal, so dress to impress.
While AMPED is a great place to get pumped up for New Year's Eve, it will also serve as the last public appearance for Frequency's current line up. It's sure to be a night of dancing, drinking and laughter.
LIGHTS AND FIREWORKS
In and around town on New Year's Eve? The fireworks go off at 9.30pm and midnight from the waterfront as well as the Christmas tree light show every 15 minutes from 8.30pm - let's hope they sync up!
FURTHER OUT + BEFORE:
Torquay's having a little New Year's Eve Eve summer soirée. Conveniently summer ends 61 days after the event, the same number in the venue's namesake, so it's a fitting reason to have Straz Band performing with plenty of drink specials and snacks.
