The Archibald Prize returns to Geelong this September
One of the highlights on the arts calendar for Geelong is the much-awaited Archibald Prize. Returning for another year this year, the exhibition opens at Geelong Gallery on September 22 and runs through until November 18.
The Archibald Prize is awarded to the best portrait painting, and is a who’s who of Australian culture, with subjects often including politicians, celebrities, sporting heroes, authors and artists.
The exhibition as a whole celebrates some of the country's most well-known personalities captured by some of our finest artists. Portraits are varied in techniques, and is always an interesting experience picking out your favourite.
